Adelyn (she/her) is a fourteen-year-old transgender advocate and high school freshman passionate about human rights for all people. Living close to the Mexico-United States border, she has seen first hand the need to protect and care for the dignity and well-being of others. Adelyn has testified in the Texas legislature in support of transgender and nonbinary kids like herself. It’s not always easy, but she is determined. “It’s an intimidating and empowering experience. I need to defend myself because no one will do it for me.” Her experiences have led her to want to pursue a future in law and justice.

Adelyn is also a proud big sister. She enjoys being a mentor and role model to her little brother helping to teach him right from wrong. Seeing the positive impact she has on him gives her hope for the future and generations to come. While Adelyn is a mentor to others, Adelyn’s mother is a mentor to her. Adelyn aspires to be as strong, powerful, and independent as her mom one day.
